Admissions

Admissions policies and supplementary information forms

St Anne’s School is a Catholic, Voluntary Aided Primary school in the Diocese of Arundel & Brighton. We serve the parishes of St Ann’s in Banstead and St John the Evangelist in Tadworth. The Governors strive to offer a distinctively Catholic education for children of 4 to 11 years of age. They expect parents to uphold the Catholic character and ethos of the school. These expectations are reflected in our admissions policy, which gives full details of the criteria we apply when admitting children into the school.

Procedures for admission for 2026-27

We hope to see many of you at our upcoming open mornings. We are happy to answer any questions via the school office or admissions@stannes-school.uk.

Parents who wish to apply for a place for their child need to complete two separate application forms. One is obtained from the LA (Local Authority, Surrey for most parents) in which the parents live. This form is normally completed online (click here to access the form for parents living in Surrey). The other is obtained from the school and enables us to collect the information we need in order to apply our admissions policy and supplementary information form (SIF) fairly. Both forms must be completed and returned before the published closing date for applications (15th January 2026). The SIF must be returned to the school office.

Appeals process for entry in 2026-27

The national offer date is 16th April 2026. Appeals must be lodged by 15th May 2026 and appeals will be heard by 17th July 2026 (40 school days). Appeals lodged after the set date will be heard within 40 school days of the appeal deadline or 30 days of being lodged whichever is the later date.

In-year admissions 2025-2026

What are In-Year Admissions?

You can make an in-year application if your child needs to join a school outside of the normal admissions round - for example, if you move house and your child can no longer attend their current school.

How parents can apply for a school place

If you want to apply for an in-year admission to St Anne’s Catholic Primary School, you need to complete:

  1. A Centrally Managed Application (CMA) for In Year admission to a school – Application Form
  • The CMA Application Form can be found here
  • You MUST scan or photograph your completed CMA Application Form and supporting evidence and email it to schooladmissions@surreycc.gov.uk. If you are unable to email it, please post to School Admissions team, Surrey County Council, PO Box 475, Reigate, RH2 2HP.
  1. The School’s Supplementary Information Form (SIF)
  • Please find the 2025-2026 SIF at the bottom of this section.
  • You MUST return the Supplementary Information Form to Mrs Stagno (admissions@stannes-school.uk), St Anne’s Catholic Primary School, Court Road, Banstead, SM7 2PH.

Who processes your application?

The governing body is the admissions authority for St Anne’s Catholic Primary School and has responsibility for admissions to the school, including setting the priority of admissions when the school is oversubscribed. Although Surrey County Council coordinates in-year applications for St Anne’s Catholic Primary School, it is the governing body who will consider if the school has any vacancies and if so, whether they are able to offer a place. The school will contact you to let you know the outcome of your application.

When will parents be notified of the outcome of their application?

Upon receipt of an in-year application, Surrey County Council will aim to notify parents of the outcome of the application in writing within 10 school days. However, it might take up to 15 school days. You must respond to any offer of a place within two weeks.

The right to appeal

If you are refused a place at any school you applied for, you have the right to make an appeal to an independent appeal panel. Where an application is refused, the school will set out the reason for refusal.

For applications for in-year Admissions, appeals must be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged. If parents wish to appeal, they must set out the grounds for appeal in writing.

Other Information

Where an applicant is offered a school place following an in-year application, and the offer is accepted, arrangements should be made for the child to start school as soon as possible, particularly where the child is out of school.

If your child is not offered a place, you can add their name to a waiting list. Waiting lists are ranked according to each school’s admission criteria. Your child’s position on a waiting list may go down as well as up, for example, if other children with greater priority according to the school’s admission criteria are added to the list.
